Unforgettable Experience For Shark Lovers In Camden

CAMDEN, N.J. (CBS) - A new addition to Camden's Adventure Aquarium -- opening to the public Friday morning -- allows you to get closer to sharks than you probably ever have before.

"Shark Bridge is an 81-foot , v-shaped suspension bridge that is suspended over our Shark Realm exhibit," explains the Aquarium's PR and Events Manager Deanna Sabec. "It's over nearly 30 sharks."

And you'll be just inches away from them she says:

"You're going to feel the humidity in the air from the water, you're going to smell salt in the air, you're going to be able to see our sharks get fed, as well as divers entering and exiting the exhibit."

Sabec says you won't just be walking by everything:

"You can touch a shark, you can swim with them after you cross."

This is the longest bridge of its kind in the world. And safety concerns, she says, shouldn't scare you away:

"We've gone through many precautions actually, and different checks and everything. We do them daily, as you would an amusement park ride."

No Jaws incidents here, but there is just a little give to the rope, which Sabec assures adds thrill and excitement to the experience.

The Shark Bridge grand opening takes place at 10:30 a.m. with a ribbon cutting. Then a group of local second graders will be the first to cross the bridge.
