Villanova Players Come Back To Reality After Championship Win

By Greg Argos

RADNOR, Pa., (CBS) -- Of course, the Villanova basketball team is looking forward to Friday's parade, but remember, these players are STUDENT-athletes. That means the national champions have to return to the classroom and they did so on Wednesday.

The 2016 champs are trading in their basketballs and jerseys for pencils and paper.

There was some celebration left behind on Wednesday at Villanova as students enjoyed lunch and made their way to classes, but it was clearly calmer at Nova Nation.

The players, now celebrities have been trying to lay low. You can call it the Nova Aftermath, where even national champions have to get to math class.

In his freshman calculus class, starting point guard Jalen Brunson, was hard at work. "Back in school, back to reality," said Brunson.

Brunson was so grateful for the win, but on Wednesday, he put the student back in front of the athlete.

"It's something that our team prides itself on," Brunson said. "Being humble and hungry and I mean, it's something that we have to do; being students at Villanova so we have to come to class."

Even though Brunson has calculus again on Thursday, classes are cancelled on Friday so Nova Nation can invade Center City for the team's parade.
