Villanova Fans Begin Picking Up Their National Championship Gear

By Jan Carabeo

VILLANOVA, Pa. (CBS) -- Nova Nation has not slept much since that buzzer beater to win the national championship.

The excitement on Lancaster Avenue last night, filling the Villanova campus bookstore this morning.

Lauren Johnson, a grad student, says, "It was surreal, it really was. It was just a cool experience."

Kaitlin Kramer agrees. "We don't think there's been a moment like that in our whole entire lives."

But there are now those who have experienced the thrill of two national championship titles.

One fan even brought a momento of the 1985 win to pick out his t-shirt commemorating this one.

"I knew they were that good and I knew they could win last night," says Ron DiPitro, of the class of 1972.

Dozens lined up at 8 a.m. to get their hands on the new gear that marks the moment.

Some even left with their arms filled.

Now when the doors opened, the bookstore had about 5,000 national championship shirts. They'll get another couple shipments today, and then the rest of the championship gear arrives throughout the week.

Manager of the store, Ryan, says, "Pennants, pins, flags, women's t-shirts and kids t-shirts."

Hours before opening, employees rushed to unload the goods.

The shirts, hot of the presses at the Nike Factory in New Jersey.

A lone, but loyal fan named Jared says, "I just can't wait to get one of those shirts. It's just, the adrenaline is still pumping. I guess I'm the first one in line. "

Braving the freezing temps, his dedication is a testament to this team, their journey and the championship win.

Villanova University has announced plans for a celebratory parade on Friday, April 8, in Philadelphia. Stay with CBS3 and CBSPhilly.com for live coverage of the parade.
