'Always Sunny In Philadelphia' Gets Record Renewal

By John McDevitt

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A TV comedy series set in Philadelphia gets a record tying two-season renewal at the FXX channel.

It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia was picked up at the FXX channel for two more seasons.

Once seasons 13 and 14 are completed, it will tie The Adventures of Ozzie & Harriet, which debuted in the 50s, for TV's longest-running live-action comedy.

"So I think, pretty soon, it's going to be 'oi, It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia,'" said Sharon Pinkenson, who heads the Philadelphia Film Office.

"It's an incredibly loyal fan base. I wish they were shooting it in Philadelphia. Every once in a while they come back here and shoot a couple of episodes. You know the problem is they went out to LA as soon as they were here, and then they all ultimately got married and had babies in California, so they couldn't leave and now they're dug in deep. But I know they love Philadelphia and they are always going back and forth," said Pinkenson

"It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia" was created by 1995 St. Joe's Prep grad Rob McElhenney, who plays the character "Mac" on the show.
