What's Cooking on 1060: Wine, Wine and More Wine
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The third annual Philly Wine Week starts on Sunday as the city's bars and restaurants celebrate eight days of wine programming.
Philly Wine Week co-founder Kate Moroney-Miller says this year's Wine Week is better than ever:
"We have over 55 participating bars and restaurants all throughout Philadelphia this year."
The goal: "we're just here to spread the love about all of these different wine programs and wine lists and wine happy hours."
Moroney-Miller says there's no better city to learn about wine than Philadelphia:
"If you do want a little education while you're out and about, Philly is the place with so many people behind the scenes that can teach you about it in a really fun, non-textbook, non-classroom environment."
For example, she says, of the many Philly Wine Week highlights, one event focuses on wine lingo:
"Almost like a cheat sheet classroom to teach you easy concepts like oaked versus unoaked, what is tannin?"
Moroney-Miller says another highlight is the wine flight happy hours:
"It's the best way to not commit to too much, right? You get a little taste of a few items."
And this year, she says they're asking folks to participate every day of wine week on social media:
"And that goes for people that are out and about at the bars and restaurants or if you happen to be home because you can't escape the house or the kids, snap a picture of yourself sipping your favorite wine and hashtag it #wineatnine."
