Snapchat To Get Major Update

By Melony Roy

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The way that you chat with friends on Snapchat is getting a major overhaul. The messaging app now feels a lot like Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp.

Snapchat has added new feature, rolling out what it calls chat 2.0.

In a blog post, the company says "We want Chat to be the best way to communicate — second only to hanging out face-to-face."

It's a total overhaul from Chat 1.0, a feature that only let users swap text notes and do video calls only if you were both looking at the message.

Chat 2.0 has audio calling, video chatting, fun stickers, and the option to send photos from your camera roll.

Stories are also getting an update, once you start watching stories from friends, the app will begin to auto-load the next couple stories to make it easier to navigate between them.

With these changes Snapchat is positioning itself as the most vivid, personal way to chat and can better compete with the likes of Facebook messenger and WhatsApp.
