Are You Rooting For Villanova?

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- It's feels like an age-old question: If you did not attend Villanova University, but consider yourself a die-hard Philly sports fan, are you rooting for them?

How about if you went to Temple? St. Joe's? Drexel?

Villanova is a small favorite over the University of Miami in Thursday night's Sweet 16 matchup and have a legitimate chance to reach the Final Four for the first time since 2009 and just the third time in more than three decades.

Philly sports fans, despite their desperate need for a winner, are not offering their unconditional support for Jay Wright's squad.

"These are all really good kids and I think people can see that from the interviews," Temple University graduate John Clark of CSN told Angelo Cataldi and the 94WIP Morning Show on Thursday. "I mean Ryan Arcidiacono, Daniel Ochefu, all of the kids are really good kids. So I am rooting for them to win and I think it does bring something good to our area -- we haven't playoffs here in two years. So, it is interesting to me that the town really doesn't completely get behind them because there are so many other school affiliations. But I think once they reach this level, you gotta start rooting for them a little bit. Don't you?

"I do," Cataldi replied. "All we've really been talking about for the last few years is failure. The way they played that first half in the last game, they can beat any team in college basketball."

"They are a dangerous basketball team right now...literally, they've got the best shooting percentage in the tournament," Clark continued. "They've made the most threes. They are one of the hottest teams and one of the most dangerous teams left in the tournament."

Villanova is a four-point favorite tonight vs. Miami at the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, Kentucky. Tip off set for 7:10 p.m.
