Philadelphia Parking Kiosks Temporarily Aren't Accepting Credit Cards

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - If you're planning to park on a Philadelphia street today, be advised: parking kiosks are not accepting credit cards because of a data transmission failure.

It's cash, or the Parking Authority's smart phone app -- Meter Up -- and that's it, according to a release from the Parking Authority.

The only other out is to leave your car, go get cash, and if you get a ticket before you return, you can write to customer service for instructions on how to get the ticket forgiven as long as you get a kiosk receipt within 15 minutes of getting the parking ticket.

Executive Director Vince Fenerty says the Parking Authority is working diligently to fix the glitch.

In the meantime, bring lots of change and small bills, and leave yourself a little extra time.
