PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- There are many theories about the best ways to lose weight.

I can tell you unequivocally that the best way to lose weight is to reduce the calories you take in while increasing the amount of calories you burn with exercise. But I am sure you know that. But what about certain tricks to make the battle a bit easier?

Researchers out of Purdue are saying a meal high in protein can help people feel more full afterward and as a result this might help them to maintain or lose weight. Whether the protein came in the form of yogurt, omelets, milk, or soy, participants in the Purdue study said they felt more full 2-4 hours after consuming a high-protein meal compared with those who ate a low- or medium-protein meal.

We know the best overall diet is the Mediterranean diet but all of us eat a wide variety of foods and this little tip –the result of a major study—is helpful.
