Local Lawmakers, County Commissioners Discuss Transportation Projects

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Six state lawmakers and a pair of county commissioners took the stage to talk transportation projects at a breakfast hosted by the "Greater Valley Forge Transportation Management Association."
Two hot topics: On-going meetings about the recommended route for the King of Prussia rail project, and the soon to start widening of Route 422 over the Schuylkill River in Valley Forge.
GVF Executive Director Robert Henry says after years of work, it's great to see projects closer to reality.
"You finally have these projects and that's what we've advocated for and worked with a lot of these local elected officials for to fund these projects to improve our region and make sure our economy continues to function as it should."
Other projects discussed: the need for a new train station in Conshohocken, ways to make the 611 corridor less of a thoroughfare and more user friendly.
State Rep Mike Vereb says it's a great chance to get out of Harrisburg to talk to the people who work on or are affected by these projects.
"We hear the good things, we do, and we are reminded of the things we have not done or the bad things we've done, so great opportunity to interact."
