La Salle Student Gets Once In A Lifetime Chance To Perform With Bruce Springsteen
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – It was the chance of a lifetime.
A La Salle student got a special invitation at a sold-out Bruce Springsteen concert, and he's still on cloud nine.
As a marketing student at La Salle, Tom England has had his share of cookie cutter spring break vacations. But, let's say this last one, where he got to jam on stage with Bruce Springsteen and the E-street band, was unlike any other.
"I will never forget my senior year second semester spring break," England said.
Let's back it up a bit‚ Tom home in Saint Louis on break, with one ticket to Sunday's show, got a belated Christmas gift from the parents.
"They got me one ticket," he said.
Thanks to pitt access and a catchy sign, perhaps the result of something he learned through marketing class at La Salle he got the Boss' attention.
"Boom. I popped the sign above my head and I saw him reading it," he said. "Bruce goes. He looks right at me and says, 'what do you want to do?' I said I want to sing this with you. He said 'what do you do?'
I said I play guitar," England explained.
"And Bruce looks at me and goes come up!" he said. "He just looks at me, and goes, I hope you know what you're doing, and in the back of my mind I go, I know exactly what I'm doing."
The two hit it off.
"We both just looked at each other and we knew this was going to be great," England said. "The crowd ate it up."
"As soon as the song ended, he looked at me and we both kind of started laughing and he hugged me and I just started saying, 'Bruce. Thank you so much'," England said. "That was my bucket list. I have no more bucket list. My bucket list is over. I can die happy."
