Reward Offered For Information On Dog Found Dead In Suitcase

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Humane Society is offering a $5,000 reward for information that leads investigators to the person or people responsible for a dog that was found stuffed inside of a suitcase in Chester a little over a week ago.

The Delaware County SPCA says the animal's remains were found near West 2nd and Pusey Streets on February 18th. Spokeswoman Justina Calgiano says it appears to have been there for quite some time.

"It was even hard to tell if it was male or female, even the coloring of the dog. It's really hard to know the identity, anything about it. Even sex," Calgiano explained.

She says scratches and bite marks inside the suitcase point to the animal still being alive when it was stuffed into the suitcase, which was zippered closed. She says any information would be a great help, and can be submitted online at the SPCA's website, or by calling the Delaware County SPCA Humane Officer.
