Big Turnout As Officials Announce New Restaurant Coming Curtis Center

By Hadas Kuznits

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A new restaurant is coming to the Curtis Center. The announcement was full of fanfare and was also attended by Mayor Jim Kenney and former governor Ed Rendell.

Phil Scottie, owner of P.J. Clarke's is proud to announce that he's opening his restaurant at the Curtis Curtis center, overlooking Philadelphia's Washington Square Park.

"There's three in New York, one in DC, four in Brazil and now Philadelphia. So, this will be the fifth American one."

Former Governor Ed Rendell says for years he tried to get Scottie to open here.

"In part, because I wanted the economic development that would come from a great restaurant, to improve the quality of life, and a great part because I am probably the number one consumer of cheeseburgers in the city of Philadelphia!"

Scottie says he's from the area and his mom still lives in Montgomery County.

"Because it's my home, it has got to be the best one that I ever did!"

When will they open?

"I would love to be open by the Democratic National Convention, but the truth is you open when the contractor decided that he's ready to let you open."
