NFL Reporter: Eagles, Chiefs Two 'Big Options' For RG3

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Robert Griffin III won't be in Washington next season.

"I see Robert getting an opportunity with another team," Washington's president Bruce Allen said on Tuesday. "We've heard from some teams that are interested. I think he's going to have a choice of a couple teams that will let him excel in the future."

So what about Philadelphia?

NFL.com's Ian Rapoport mentioned the Eagles, as a possible "landing spot" for RG3.

"I'll give you two big options right off the top," Rapoport said Wednesday on the NFL Network. "The Kansas City Chiefs, who have Andy Reid -- who has propped up quarterbacks for years. He can learn to throw from the pocket under that system. Another potential name -- the Philadelphia Eagles with one of Reid's disciples, Doug Pederson. They're looking for some quarterback depth there, especially if they don't re-sign Sam Bradford."

Ironically, ex-Eagles coach Andy Reid and new Eagles coach Doug Pederson could potentially compete for Griffin.

The Eagles, of course, have to decide if they want to retain Bradford or not. Free-agency officially begins on March 9th at 4:00 p.m.

Griffin, 26, won the 2011 Heisman Trophy at Baylor, was selected No. 2 overall in 2012, and made the Pro Bowl in 2013 before injuries derailed his career. In his first two seasons in the NFL, Griffin threw for 3,200 in both seasons while running for 815 and 489 respectively.

94WIP's Andrew Porter makes the case for RG3:

"I think it's an option that needs to be explored, not just by the fans, but by the Eagles," 94WIP's Ike Reese said on Wednesday's Mike & Ike Show. "Listen, you're obviously not 100-percent sold on Sam Bradford...there is some trepidation about committing to Sam Bradford and rightfully so.

"He's played," Reese continued. "He's going to be motivated. I think he's motivated to prove a lot of people wrong. Not a bad kid...maybe he's grown a little bit. This is about salvaging your career. There are some skills there that I think fit perfectly with this offense."
