Police, Family Honor And Celebrate Life Of Fallen Officer

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Dozens of Police officers gathered at the corners of Broad Street and Olney Avenue this Saturday afternoon for a vigil in honor of a police officer killed in the line of duty 7-years ago.

Frigid temperatures cut the ceremony a bit short, but officers and family members gathered for a prayer and moment of reflection in honor of Officer John Pawlowski. The 25-year old Pawlowski was shot and killed by a suspect while responding to an altercation between two men at Broad and Olney. John's uncle Ken Linneman is a retired police lieutenant, and says his nephew was one of kind.

"His Facebook for the last couple days has been lighting with 5,649, pictures of Johnny both as an officer and a young guy, and we can tell that he's loved," Linneman said. "And people say gone but not forgotten, and it rings true. We really do appreciate it, the entire family."

Pawlowski is survived by his wife and young son.
