Pa. Senate To Vote Wednesday On Removal Of AG Kane

HARRISBURG, Pa., (CBS) -- The state Senate is now poised to vote later this week on whether to remove Kathleen Kane as Pennsylvania's Attorney General.

The top ranking state Senator, President Pro Tem Joe Scarnati, a Republican, Monday night released a statement saying the Senate is to vote Wednesday on whether to remove embattled Attorney General Kathleen Kane from office. A two thirds vote of the Senate would be required.

A special Senate committee examining whether Kane can do her job as attorney general with a law license under suspension concluded that the Senate should vote on removing her, but only after the status of her law license was clear. On Friday, the state Supreme Court rejected Kane's bid to have her license suspension lifted, setting the stage for Wednesday's scheduled vote on possible removal of Kane, who insists the process known as Senate Address is unconstitutional.
