Meek Mill Sentenced For Parole Violation

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Rap star and Philadelphia native Meek Mill was sentenced Friday for violating his probation for a fourth time since a 2009 conviction.

Judge Genece Brinkley gave rap star Meek Mill whose real name is Robert Williams 90 days house arrest, starting March 1st, for violating probation on 2009 drug and gun charges. Williams' defense attorney brought several character witnesses to testify about changing his life path for the better. Assistant District Attorney Noel Ann DeSantis has been with the case from the beginning.

"I think it is a very fair decision, and I hope the defendant takes the excellent opportunity that the judge has given him, and proves her correct in her vision of his career."

Williams' superstar girlfriend, Nicki Minaj was in the courtroom during sentencing, and Judge Brinkley asked her if she would be there to help him continue on the right path, to which Minaj smiled and nodded. During his sentence, Williams will only be allowed to leave the house for community service approved by the judge.
