Officials With Phila. Archdiocesean Schools Take Steps To Grow Enrollment
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Archdiocese of Philadelphia is taking steps to grow enrollment at their 17 high schools.
On Thursday morning, Archbishop Charles Chaput announced that Archdiocesan schools are extending their contract with the Faith in the Future Foundation, a company hired back in 2012 to manage and oversee the schools.
"I jumped at it, because it was a wonderful opportunity. It proved to be an extraordinary moment," said Archbishop Chaput.
Archbishop Chaput says before their partnership with Faith in the Future they were considering closing four schools, but since the partnership, the schools have stayed open and enrollment has increased.
"They've just done an extraordinary work revitalizing something that was heading towards some pretty sad moments," said Archbishop Chaput.
Chaput says they now want to focus on growing the schools.
"The way to do that is to make it affordable and also make it very attractive by making the schools creative and kind of perceived as being a unique opportunity for education for young people," said Archbishop Chaput.
The new agreement runs until 2022.
