Lawsuits Pending Against Cosby As He Fights Criminal Charge

PHILADELPHIA (AP) --  As Bill Cosby seeks to have a criminal charge of sexual assault against him dismissed in Pennsylvania, he also faces civil lawsuits in Massachusetts and California from women who claim he sexually abused them decades ago.

A recap of those cases in which statues of limitations have run their course, no charges were brought and Cosby has denied any wrongdoing:

MASSACHUSETTS

Nine women accuse him of defamation in three separate lawsuits in Massachusetts, where Cosby has a home in Shelburne Falls. The women allege he sexually abused them decades ago then defamed them after they went public with their allegations by allowing his representatives to brand them as liars. The lawsuits seek unspecified damages. Cosby is seeking to have them dismissed.

CALIFORNIA

Cosby is being sued in Los Angeles by Judy Huth, who accuses the comedian of forcing her to perform a sex act on him in a bedroom of the Playboy Mansion around 1974, when she was 15. A judge Tuesday ordered him to attend a second deposition and respond to questions from her lawyers. Cosby is seeking dismissal of the lawsuit.

The comedian also faces a defamation lawsuit by model Janice Dickinson, who claims Cosby drugged and raped her in Lake Tahoe, California, in 1982. Johnson sued Cosby over his denials. Cosby is seeking a dismissal.
