Police: Officers Assaulted In Brawl Outside Northeast Philadelphia Bar

PHILADELPHIA (CBS/AP) — Officials say three police officers were attacked as they were trying to break up a brawl outside a Northeast Philadelphia bar.

The incident happened around 3 a.m. Sunday outside the Good Life Bar in the 9800 block of Bustleton Avenue in the city's Bustleton neighborhood.

Security guards at the bar called police to report the brawl, and while they were talking to dispatchers they heard four or five gunshots.

Responding officers found 50 to 75 people outside the bar and said about 25 people were fist-fighting.

Police said that when a sergeant tried to break up one fight, one of the combatants refused police commands and began yelling "Shoot me, shoot me, I'm black, shoot me."

Officials said the crowd then turned toward the officers, and three officers were assaulted. Three people were arrested, two on riot and disorderly conduct charges and one woman on charges of having assaulted all three officers.
