Man Accused Of Killing Girlfriend Said They Had "Romeo And Juliet" Style Suicide Pact

PHOENIXVILLE, Pa. (CBS) --  A Phoenixville man who allegedly told police he and his girlfriend planned to die, in his words, in "Romeo and Juliet" style, is now facing First Degree Murder and other serious charges.

Upper Providence Township police found 27-year-old Joette Mullen dead in a car after a passer-by saw her in a car parked near Lock 60 in the Schuylkill Canal Park in Mont Clare.

27-year-old Anthony Noble is charged with first and third degree murder. The criminal complaint says Noble allegedly told police he and Mullen planned to die together, but he backed out after watching her die.

Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele says the evidence shows Noble purposefully prepared a fatal dose of cocaine and then injected it in Mullen's arm.

"This is First Degree Murder similar to a case where somebody takes a gun," he said, "loads it, points it at somebody, pulls the trigger and kills them."

The criminal complaint includes a transcript conversation between Noble and a friend, where Noble tells the friend he injected Mullen so she wouldn't go to hell for committing suicide.
