Wolf On First Anniversary: Proud Of My Stand On Budget

HARRISBURG, Pa., (CBS) -- Despite an ongoing budget battle, Governor Wolf says he's proud of his first year in office.

Democratic Governor Tom Wolf took the oath of office one year ago today. That year has been largely spent butting heads with a Republican-controlled legislature, but Wolf says he has no regrets.

"The first thing I'd say is that… we don't have a budget. And that on one hand is – I'm sorry for that -- that we've taken this long to get to a budget. But I'm actually proud that I stood up and said, 'if we're going to have a budget, let's get one that actually adds up. Not one that's a sham'."

Pennsylvania remains without a complete budget, though the governor partially signed and partially vetoed a spending plan in December. Wolf points to an expansion of Medicaid, efforts to address the epidemic of heroin overdoses, and efforts at greater government transparency as examples of his first year achievements.
