Sixers Greats Appear On First List Of NBA's All-Time Top 100 Players

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- ESPN is ranking the Top 100 players in the history of the NBA. The undertaking considers every player, past and present and lays out all 100 to ultimately determine who the greatest player of all time truly is.

On Wednesday, the first ten players were revealed. This list includes spot 100-91.

The group included a pair of Sixers greats and two players that helped to lead the Sixers to their last championship.

Coming in at No. 96 on the list was sixth-man extraordinaire, Bobby Jones. The NBA's first-ever Sixth Man of the Year Award went to Jones (1982-83).

Jones played for the Sixers from 1978-86 and in all 12 of his professional seasons, his team went to the playoffs.

For his career, Jones averaged 12.1 points per game to go along with 6.1 rebounds per game.

Jones' Sixers teammate, Maurice Cheeks also cracked the list at No. 91.

Cheeks was the floor general for a Sixers team that included plenty of star power in Moses Malone and Julius Erving. Cheeks played for the Sixers from 1978-89. Cheeks was a four-time NBA All-Star and a five-time All-Defensive selection.

Cheeks averaged 11.1 points per game and 6.7 assists per game.

Undoubtedly, there will be a few more Sixers greats to appear on the list as more slots are revealed.

100-91 on the list are as follows:

  • 99: Kevin Love
  • 98. Gail Goodrich
  • 97. James Harden
  • 96. Bobby Jones
  • 95. Marc Gasol
  • 94. Mark Price
  • 93. Lenny Wilkens
  • 92. Nate Thurmond
  • 91. Maurice Cheeks
