Trader Joe's Recalls Cashews Over Possible Salmonella Contamination

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Trader Joe's is recalling a brand of its cashews, the retailer announced today.

According to its website, "Trader Joe's Raw Cashew Pieces" are being pulled due to potential salmonella contamination.

The product was distributed to 30 states and Washington, D.C.  Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware are all affected states.

The company says all bags have been pulled from shelves as it investigates the matter, but that there was only one specific lot that may have been contaminated.

The barcode number on the product is 00505154 and Trader Joe's says anyone who purchased the cashews with the specified lot code: "BEST BEFORE 07.17.2016TF4" should throw it away or return it to the store for a full refund.

No illnesses have been reported so far.
