Upcoming Basketball Clinics Scheduled To Raise Money For Delco Community Agency

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Several area college basketball teams are holding basketball clinics on Monday to raise money for the Community Action Agency of Delaware County.

KYW's Matt Leon has more on Hoops from the Heart.

Bobbi Morgan put together the idea for Hoops from the Heart 15 years ago when she was coaching at Haverford High.

She's continued to grow the concept and says there will be clinics on four separate sites on Monday.

"So we're having basketball clinics at Neumann, Cabrini, Haverford and Widener University on Martin Luther King Day and the men's and women's basketball teams will run them. They are for kids in grades one through eight," Morgan told KYW Newsradio.

The cost of the clinics is between $20-$30 depending on the site. Clinics run from 9 to noon.

In addition, "we ask all of the participants to come and bring non perishable food, canned goods, all of the funds go to the Community Action Agency. They run homeless shelters in Delaware County and also provide services for lots of families in our community that need help," Morgan explained.

Over $90,000 has been raised through these clinics since they started back in 2002.
