Cops: Chimney Fire Exposes Marijuana-Manufacturing Operation

PLUMSTED TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) — Authorities say a chimney fire exposed a large marijuana-manufacturing operation in a southern New Jersey home.

Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire early Monday. But as officials checked the Plumsted Township home for possible victims and to make sure the blaze had not spread, they allegedly found a growing site in the garage.

Authorities say a subsequent search uncovered 129 marijuana plants, along with various chemicals and other products apparently used as part of the growing operation.

Two men who authorities say live in the home — 32-year-old William Adler and 36-year-old Sean Cannariato — now face several charges, including drug manufacturing with intent to distribute.

Bail was set at $100,000 cash for each man. It wasn't known Wednesday if they have retained attorneys.
