Penny Slot Machine Player Hits $3 Million Jackpot In Atlantic City

By Cleve Bryan

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (CBS) -- A penny slot machine produced a $3 million jackpot to one lucky gambler at the Trump Taj Mahal Casino.

The 50-year-old woman from Kendall Park, NJ did not want to be identified but casino officials say she had only been playing the winning machine for about 5 minutes.

"It was really great, we had a lady come in here, regular player and she hit the Wheel of Fortune jackpot on our penny machine," says Charlie Rando, V.P. of casino operations at the Taj.

The winning wager was 400 coins which equals $4 with a payout of $3,084,922.63.

The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement, which verifies any jackpot above $75,000, says the winning was legitimate and records show it's the largest Atlantic City jackpot in more than 3 years.
