Ring In 2016 With Family Friendly NYE Events In South Jersey

HADDONFIELD, NJ.. (CBS) --  New Year's Eve is just around the corner and many parents are looking for family friendly holiday activities.

Haddonfield's already festive atmosphere is about to take family fun to the next level with their annual First Night celebration.

Mayor Jeff Kasko says buttons for entry to the First Night event have been selling like hot cakes and he expects thousands to fill Kings Highway on New Year's Eve.

It will be closed to traffic so people can walk around and enjoy the food and performers.

"We have about 15 different acts - music acts, comedy acts, different types of shows and entertainment for adults and kids," says Kasko.

Ocean City, NJ is another South Jersey town that has a substantial turn out each year to their First Night.

If you're not interested in walking in a winter wonderland then Sahara Sam's Oasis has something a bit steamier.

West Berlin's indoor water park has the wettest New Year's Eve celebration you can imagine.

"Midnight at the Oasis we call it so we've got a DJ, food, entertainment to ring in the New Year where it's weather proof - 84 degrees and always sunny," says spokesman Chris Peters.

If you think swimming on New Year's is best left to the fish - you've got to check out Camden's Adventure Aquarium.

Not only do kids get extended hours to see sharks and stingrays up close - they can let loose with a dance party under a shimmery school of fish.

"Mom, dad, everybody can come down, enjoy the aquarium and then at 4:30 and 5:30 we're going to have Gils' dance party in the rotunda," says Aquarium marketing director Deanna Sabec.

And just outside, Aquarium and Battleship New Jersey visitors will have a front row view of the fireworks over the Delaware River at 6 pm.
