Local Nonprofit Hits Roadblock Delivering Toys To Less Fortunate Kids

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --  A local nonprofit that's giving Christmas gifts to those in need hits a stumbling block as they try to get toys to dozens of children.

Jackie Wleh with Able Body Christian Men, or ABC for short, says they've been working hard to supply gifts to the less fortunate, but they're nowhere close to where they want to be.

"Out of the roughly 26 families that applied, we were only able to help seven. So there are quite a few families still out there in need and we've been pressing our way so that we're able to help the rest of the families," Wleh told KYW Newsradio.

India, a mother of two, says her children's Christmas lists consists of the usual things kids want like a doll baby, a toy car and Legos.

And thanks to ABC, she's able to put those toys under the tree.

"I really apprecite it. They are helping me out a lot. I've been through a lot this year, so their help is greatly appreciated and needed," India said.

Wleh says they are going to work until Christmas morning to get toys to as many families as possible.
