Little Girl Panics And Calls 911 After Accidentally Touching Elf On The Shelf

OLD BRIDGE, NJ (CBS) – A little girl from New Jersey got quite the scare when she accidentally knocked over her Elf on the Shelf.

Old Bridge Police Lt. Joseph Mandola says on December 12 police got a 911 call from the young girl who was panicking over the accident.

"She called 911, then she heard the dispatcher and she panicked more and started yelling 'don't come here!'"

Of course, police still went to check on the home after getting the alarmed phone call.

"We automatically sent an officer anyway. Her mom had been taking a nap and had no idea any of this was going on," Lt. Mandola explains.

The officers knocked on the door and the girl attempted to shoo them away because she was scared of getting in trouble.

"Once officers convinced her to get her mom, she was just crying and crying. Finally, she spilled the beans to her mom about what happened with the elf falling on the ground."

Lt. Mandola said officers told the little girl that police have a direct line to Santa Claus and they would make sure everything would be okay.

Police then coordinated with a firefighter who dresses up as Santa every year to visit the girl and convince her that Santa understands.

"He knocked at her door and surprised her as Santa. He assured her after hearing what happened, everything was okay with the elf."
