PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- This is the time of year when companies that have diet plans start to target people for weight loss programs and exercise facilities encourage people to sign up for memberships.

As we head closer to the new year, people make their resolutions and try to get a new start.

It is also a time of year when research is released about the same topics. One of the latest studies focuses on the part of the day many people don't think about—the time spent at work.

According to the research, working adults may need more support than the general population to increase physical activity levels. Time at work is sedentary for many and it people don't always eat as healthy as they should at work and under stress.

There is some excellent advice: as you make your plans for new year and build your resolutions factor the time spent at work and look at changes you can make.
