Philadelphia Ethics Board Settles Violations With Three Local Politicians
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Philadelphia Ethics Board has settled violations with two city council leaders and a state senator, for oversights in their campaign finance reporting.
The board cited council president Darrell Clarke for late filing of some daily reports, councilman Bobby Henon for late filing and leaving out some donors on a
primary funding report and State Senator Vincent Hughes for failing to report a contribution by the deadline.
All three declined comment.
Ethics Board Executive Director Shane Creamer says they don't appear to be deliberate violations.
"The fast pace of the campaigns causes some committees to miss a filing," he told KYW Newsradio.
Creamer says the board knocked a bit off the fines because all three cooperated.
The board has now settled 37 campaign law violations, out of some 500 filers.
He says that's a high compliance rate. "This has become fairly routine for us now, which is great. We're not fighting over this stuff. We've made it standard now, which is a great place for us to be in," Creamer explained.
