Sen. Bob Casey: Stopping ISIS Is Top Priority

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --   U.S. Senator Bob Casey is talking about his priorities for Pennsylvania, as well as the race for President.

Casey says kids and wages are his biggest focus, but national security is a top priority.

"If someone cannot get on an air plane because they are a suspected terrorist-- why should they be able to get a gun or explosives," Casey told KYW Newsradio.

Casey says Democrats in Washington are working hard to close the terrorist check gun loophole that he says has allowed 2,000 people on the no-fly list to buy guns in the past decade. He says it'll take bipartisan support-- and it's an uphill battle.

"We've had one test vote in the past two weeks, but it didn't go well," he explained.

As for national politics, he says he supports Hilary Clinton, but expects a tough general election and notes that divisive Republican rhetoric on the campaign trail could hurt the GOP.

"What we've heard from that process so far, makes it a little more challenging for the Republicans," the senator said.

Casey says he's also pushing Republicans in Congress to make moves to stop ISIS now.
