PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The city's second casino has been given final zoning approval by Philadelphia City Council.

The "Live" hotel and casino will be built at 900 Packer Avenue, adjacent  to the sports complex in South Philadelphia.

Developer 'The Cordish Companies' says the venue will have 2,000 slot machines, 125 table games and 200 rooms.

"We extend our thanks to the entire Philadelphia City Council for its thoughtful decision to approve the zoning of the Stadium Casino hotel and casino project," stated Joe Weinberg, Managing Partner of The Cordish Companies.

"We are excited to create the country's first comprehensive gaming, resort, entertainment and sports destination right in Philadelphia's Stadium District."

Cordish must await a Pennsylvania Supreme Court decision on appeals of their gambling license before construction can begin.
