Taste With Tori: The Feast Of The Seven Fishes

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --  The holidays are full of cookies and fruitcakes, gingerbread men and egg nog, all to be enjoyed every day this time of the year.

CBS3's  Vittoria Woodill went to South Philadelphia for a Christmas meal that is enjoyed only once during this season.

Chef Mamma Maria di Marco is getting ready to prepare the Feast of the Seven Fishes!

The seven fishes that Mamma will serve at her Mamma Maria's Ristorante Italiano are flounder, calamari, shrimp, clams, salmon, smelt, and baccala which is cod.

The meal is an Italian tradition that is served on Christmas Eve before midnight Mass.

Mamma has been making the feast for 23 years.

And the preparations always brings back memories of her childhood village in Italy.

"When I make these things I just see my mom," Mamma said as she fried salmon in her kitchen.

If you want to enjoy Mamma Maria's Feast of the Seven Fishes there will be three seatings on Christmas Eve at her restaurant in South Philly.
