Suspects Accused Of Following UPS Truck, Taking Packages From Doorstep

CASTLE HILLS, Del. (CBS) – New Castle County Police say they are searching for suspects accused of removing packages from a home in Castle Hills, Delaware.

Authorities say around 4:15 p.m. on December 8, police responded to a home in reference to a theft of a delivered package.

Officers learned from the victim that a neighbor reported seeing a group of men in a silver minivan following a UPS truck.

One of the men exited the minivan and allegedly took the packages from the victim's doorstep.

Several units responded to the scene in an attempt to find the vehicle with negative results.

Authorities describe the suspect as an African-American male, wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt and dark pants. The vehicle is described as a silver minivan, possibly bearing a temporary Delaware registration.

New Castle County Police has partnered with Delaware Crime Stoppers and offers rewards up to $10,000 for the arrest/conviction regarding any violent crime by calling 1-800-TIP-3333.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call the New Castle County Police Department: 302-573-2800.

To avoid being victimized, police recommend sending packages to your office, or to a family or friend's house who you know is home all day.

You can also consider picking the package up at the mailing facility.
