Unusually Warm Temperatures Keep Area Golfers On The Course

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- It is a leaf blower, not a snow blower, grooming the Cobbs Creek Golf Club in Philadelphia.
Unusually warm weather has allowed a season that typically wraps up in early November to push on through mid-December.
"Everything is just a bonus right now," said Mike Owsik.
And there are few who understand that concept better than the course's most notorious bunch.
"They come here pretty much every morning about 15 to 20 guys and they hang out in the club house, drink coffee and yell at each other," said Oswik.
Lou Camilli is 96 years old, slightly older than the record highs this weekend's temperatures are set to break.
"I love it, I'm strictly a summer boy," said Camilli.
Lou, a veteran, who took up golf at 41, averages about 130 rounds a season. He's hoping to squeeze all he can out of this one.
Which is probably why he was so hard to catch up with.
"I have a little problem with the hands circulation and my hands get very cold but I can't beat this December weather," said Camilli.
Compared with last year, 2015 has done wonders for courses all around the region. Cobbs Creek is well on their way to be booked up this weekend.
"Like I said everything is just a bonus right now that's all it is," said Oswik.
"To me as long as I can get out in that fresh air and see the trees and the grass I'm happy," said Camilli.
So a happy holiday season it has been for anyone who knows how to live each day like a bonus.
