Matt Rhule Signs New Contract To Stay At Temple

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Temple University head football coach, Matt Rhule, is not going anywhere.

Rhule has signed a new six-year contract to stay at Temple through the 2021 season, Temple University President Neil D. Theobald announced on Monday. The contract, according to Sports Illustrated's Pete Thamel, includes a pay raise and a commitment to facilities from the school.

There have been on-going conversations about Temple University building their own on-campus football stadium, rather than renting Lincoln Financial Field for their home games.

Rhule, a third-year coach, has turned a 2-10 Temple football team into a 10-3 team this season. The Owls achieved their first top-20 ranking since 1979 and will play Toledo in the Boca Raton Bowl on December 22nd.

"While this has been such a special season, there is still so much more that Temple football can accomplish," Rhule said via OwlsSports.com. "I am proud to coach such incredible student-athletes and I am honored to continue to be a part of the Temple community."
