Former Cape May County Health Inspector Named Among San Bernardino Shooting Victims

SAN BERNARDINO, CA (CBS) -- Family members and friends confirm a former Cape May County man is among the victims of the San Bernardino mass shooting.

Len Guthrie worked for 33 years with the Cape May County Health Department before retiring.

He says Nicholas Thalasinos, who worked with him for 15 of those years became a close colleague and friend.

Guthrie says he was shocked to learn in a phone call Thursday from a former health department colleague that Thalasinos was one of the 14 killed in the San Bernadino shootings.

"And, I just couldn't believe it. It took the breath from me. Not Nick."

Guthrie says Thalasinos moved to California after meeting his second wife and took a health inspector's job in San Bernadino more than a dozen years ago.
