Police: Arrest Made After Man Was Beaten With Hammer And Doused In Lighter Fluid

BLACKWOOD, N.J. (CBS) --  Police in Gloucester Township say a man has been arrested after assaulting a man with a hammer and then dousing him with lighter fluid during an argument over money.

It happened just after 10 Monday morning at a business called "Computer Techz," located on Black Horse Pike in Blackwood.

Authorities say upon arriving at the scene they found the suspect, identified as 41-year-old Jason Brad of Pine Hill, N.J., pinned to the ground by the victim.

The victim, who was bleeding from the head, has been identified as Lloyd Napier.

An investigation revealed the suspect was a contractor hired to do work at the business and was there to collect payment.

But when the men disagreed over the amount, police say Brad pulled out lighter fluid and sprayed Napier while threatening to set him on fire and kill him.

Police say Brad then hit Napier on the head with a hammer, but Napier managed to wrestle him to the ground and hold him until help arrived.

Napier was transported to the hospital where he's being treated for his injuries.

Meanwhile, Jason Brad was charged with Aggravated Assault, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon and making Terroristic Threats, among others.

Brad was held in a Camden County jail in lieu of $100,000 bail.
