Expert Says Eagles Are The Most Likely Landing Spot For Colin Kaepernick
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Eagles starting quarterback job has been nothing more than a series of tryouts since the departure of Donovan McNabb. While the team did experience some solid stretches under names like Mike Vick and Nick Foles. It never really felt like the long-term, lead them over the hump-type signal caller was on the roster.
This year's showing has done nothing to strengthen the odds that Sam Bradford is that quarterback and one potential replacement that has popped up several times is Colin Kaepernick.
The quarterback's days in San Francisco appear to be numbered and in Peter King's latest Monday Morning Quarterback, he lists the Eagles as the most likely landing spot for Kaepernick.
"If Chip Kelly is, as expected, still the coach, he'll need a quarterback with his QB depth chart a disastrous minefield right now," King wrote.
Kaepernick fits the bill for what most people believe Kelly wants in quarterback. Even though Kelly might dispute this, or shoot the notion down with coach jargon, the mindset is that a mobile quarterback, that can be a threat to run and make plays on the move, is the ideal leader for this offense.
That style is Kaepernick's without question. It has been the key to the level of success that he attained and moving forward, he will have to lean on it to find any more success in the league, more than likely in another city.
This season, Kaepernick played in five games prior to be placed on injured reserve with a shoulder injury.
During that time, Kapernick passed for 1,615 yards, six touchdowns and five interceptions. The 49ers were 1-4 during that span.
King listed the Jets, Ravens and Raiders as other potential suitors for Kaepernick.
