High School Top 10: Upper Dublin Gets One Step Closer To History

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — Upper Dublin has achieved a number of firsts in the history of the program over the last two years. But this season could be arguably the best team in the program's history.

The Cardinals are in the PIAA District 1 Class AAAA quarterfinals tonight hosting Upper Darby and they sit at 11-0—another first for Upper Dublin, after beating a good Garnet Valley team 35-3 in the opening of the playoffs last week.

"What we keep going back to is the football IQ of this group. It's very high and they put the game plan into action on Friday nights," Cardinals coach Bret Stover said. "We've never been to a district championship, but our strength, I think, is keeping the bar right in front of us for each game. We didn't put the pressure on these kids that they have to win a district title this year. We wanted to check them off one at a time as we won. We haven't really talked about anything other than the Suburban One American Conference title. That's been the key. We have to keep that focus and we'll see where it goes."
