Mayor Nutter Receives Gold Medal Award From PPRA

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Mayor Michael Nutter received a special honor Thursday for the work he's done in Philadelphia during his time in office.
Each year the Philadelphia Public Relations Association honors a non public relations person with The Gold Medal Award for bringing good publicity to the city.
Meredith Z. Avakian-Hardaway with the PPRA says they could not think of a more suitable person for this year's award than Mayor Nutter.
"Given his work with helping to make Philadelphia a the first world heritage in the U.S., helping to bring the world meeting of families and the Pope here. Those are certainly some of the most notable things in the past year."
Mayor Nutter says the award is great, but he's happy that he has been able to gain a model of best practices from the people honoring him.
"Whether it's trying to provide better services in general or a safer city, a more sustainable city I've learned a great deal from this organization."
Mayor Nutter joins former Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell and famed chef Jose Garces as a PPRA Gold Medal recipient.
