Woman Who Got Hit By NJ State Trooper Describes His "Disheveled" State

CINNAMINSON, N.J. (CBS) --  A New Jersey State Trooper is arrested and under investigation after a traffic accident in Monmouth County.

Police say he was under the influence when his cruiser collided with another car on the Garden State Parkway.

Eyewitness News received access to dashcam video of the incident today.

Dashcam audio:
"I am not drunk...You ok? Yeah, I had a prostate surgery I'm on anesthesia right now. I'm trying to get home to Cinnaminson"

A profession of sobriety begins an exchange that would ultimately lead to a New Jersey State Trooper's suspension.

Dashcam video from the responding officers vehicle, shows the interaction moments after Sgt. First Class Michael Roadside rear ends a driver at a rest stop on the Garden State Parkway in Monmouth County.

The video shows what appears to be the trooper's erratic behavior and slurred speech. A female driver called police after seeing the disheveled officer step out of his car after the crash.

That woman is Kimberly Wilson. It's been a month since the accident and Wilson says she's still traumatized. She spoke to CBS News from her home in Lincroft and took us back to the incident on October 26th.

"He looked dirty and disheveled his hair was all messed up... he opened his shirt... and he dropped a Bud Light bottle cap."

Police say the troopers blood alcohol level was twice the legal limit.

When Eyewitness News knocked on the door of Sgt. Roadside's Cinnaminson, New Jersey home, a man came to the door claiming the Trooper wasn't there.

The dashcam video lead to Sgt. Roadside's arrest on DWI charges. Also, police say open alcohol containers were found inside his police cruiser.

 Roadside is a 28- year-veteran of the NJSP force.

"I think it's scary and terrible. I feel bad for him and I hope he gets the help he needs," Wilson says of the accused state trooper.
