15-Year-Old Sara Stevens Sings To Support The Military

By Michael Cerio

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Sara Stevens is an opera singer with a voice much bigger than her age. As it turns out her heart is pretty large as well.

Sara doesn't have anyone in her family in the military, but just the image of parents reuniting with their children after serving our country stirred something in the 15-year-old.

"On TV I had seen these images of how these military moms and dads were reuniting with their kids, and it touched me. It just really moved me" explains Sara. "It was such a beautiful scene, and my mom and I decided to sit down, get a pencil and a paper and write about it."

The inspired young opera singer emerged from that moment with the song "Promise" which is now available on iTunes. The proceeds to every purchase of the song go to benefit the organization Soldier's Angels, which support the troops by crafting care packages for soldiers.

"They seemed like a wonderful organization and they put my video on their website" says Sara. "There was a chemistry there and we just kind of partnered up. They do so many incredible things and I'm just so happy to be supporting them."

November is Military Family Appreciation Month and a great excuse to help those who serve and the families that support them. You can watch the thoughtful Sara Stevens sing here, or go to iTunes and purchase "Promise" to contribute to Soldier's Angels mission of making the holidays a little brighter for our men and women in the military.
