DNC Committee Holds Forum On Local Business Involvement

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --  Members Democratic National Convention Committee held a forum Monday night at Philadelphia Community College, to answer questions about how they will handle businesses next July, when they set up shop here in Philadelphia.

40-50 thousand people are expected for the convention which is about the size of an Eagles game.
Leah Daughtery heads the Convention Committee.

"Big difference from what happened with the Pope, when people are coming in for one event and leaving, our folks are here for a week," Daughtery told KYW Newsradio.

She says anyone who owns a business should sign up, to be entered into a directory of vendors.

"You can expect delegates, media, guests, donors to come ready to participate in the livelihood of the City of Philadelphia, and to do their part for the local economy," she says.

Keith Taylor is with Chef Soul Catering in Norristown, and welcomes the idea of involving ALL of the local economy, even in the burbs.

"One of the things that I think is great is this thing isn't centered around Center City, it's at the Wells Fargo Center, so there's going to be spider legs, and octopus legs and arms, that go all out everywhere," Taylor says.

To sign up your business to be a part of the DNC directory, head to www.phldnc.com.
