Senate Panel Studying Kane Ouster To Hold Hearing Monday

HARRISBURG, P.A., (CBS) -- The special Senate committee empaneled to study whether Attorney General Kathleen Kane can continue in office is scheduled to hold a public hearing Monday afternoon.

The bi-partisan Senate committee was formed after Kane's law license was suspended and is tasked with examining how that suspension affects her ability to function as attorney general.

Jennifer Kocher, spokeswoman for the Senate majority leader, says today's scheduled hearing will focus on local prosecutors interactions with the attorney general and her office since her license was suspended.

"What the relationship was before, what is after, what the impacts are, and how does that affect the ability of the office to function," Kocher posed.

The Senate committee is to report its findings later this month. Kane last week sent a letter to the panel saying that she will not cooperate with its investigation, claiming that the process being eyed to remove her called Senate address is invalid.
