Bicycling Enthusiasts Gather For Philly Bike Expo

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The 6th Annual Philly Bike Expo is underway at the Pennsylvania Convention Center.

Hundreds of bikers wandered around the Convention Center, test riding recumbent bikes, checking out some vintage bikes from the turn of the last century, and taking part in "how to fix your own bike" seminars.

Angela Walker of Bryn Mawr has been riding seriously for about four years.

"If I don't go out at least once a week, I get very depressed," she says, "so I have to get out there. And just being here with a lot of bikers is so wonderful because we talk about our different experiences on the trails or on the road."

Rick Reisinger is from Lancaster. How many miles does he log?

"A hundred to 200 miles a week," he says. "I'm coming up on 5,000 for the year."

He came to get a new riding jacket for the colder months. His buddy, John Mullineaux, was scoping out a new helmet.

"You always have to do something to tweak these helmets to get them to fit right," he says. "This one just fit like a glove, right out of the box. So as soon as they come on sale, I'm gonna get one of those it's a nice one."

This year's expo features a gravel bike seminar, two female framebuilders, and vendors selling bike tools, seats, shirts jackets, and every other kind of biking accessory you could possible imagine.
