Stallone Returns To Philadelphia To Discuss New Movie 'Creed'

By Kristen Johanson

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — The iconic steps of the Art Museum were star-studded once again, with a press conference Friday introducing characters from the new movie "Creed", which was filmed in Philadelphia.

Rocky himself, Sylvester Stallone greeted fans, encouraging them to see his new movie "Creed." Stallone plays a mentor to young boxer Adonis Creed, played by Michael B. Jordan.

Stallone says the film doesn't stray from the original theme of the Rocky series.

"It's about grabbing hold of an ideal, putting aside your fears and lower your head, and driving forward... taking the ones you love along with you," said Stallone.

Filming took place last winter throughout the city in places like the Italian Market, Temple University and the Art Museum steps. Stallone says the movie parallels the original Rocky series.

"If you don't think you can make it up these steps of life, which is kind of represented here by the museum -- don't you believe that, because if I can do it, you can do it," said Stallone.

And he says he hopes to be back soon.

"Here's to the people of Philadelphia, who I love dearly," he said.

Tessa Thompson plays Jordan's love interest, and says Philly is the most important character in the film.

"I just had such an amazing time being here and so all I did was hang out, because there is no better way to learn how to be a Philly jawn, then just spend some time in some Philly jawns," said Thompson.

Mayor Michael Nutter also proclaimed the November 25th release date, as official Creed Day in Philadelphia.
