Camden County Opens Tool Library

BLACKWOOD, N.J. (CBS) - Camden County officially opens a tool library today in Blackwood. If you're thinking books here, think again.

You've got to live in the county and sign up. Just like a library card, only you take out a tool you might need on one of those home projects.

And if you only need it once, why buy it?

"If they need a shovel or a saw or a rake or a hedge cutter, instead of them wasting money or spending extra money going out to a rental department, they can come over to the county and borrow the tool and return it," County Freeholder Jonathan Young tells KYW Newsradio.

The library, equipped with donated tools and staffed by volunteers, operates Tuesday and Thursday afternoons and Sunday mornings. It's housed in a formerly closed building in the county's environmental park on Lakeland Road in Blackwood.
